The Red-tailed Hawk
The Red-tailed Hawk was Eagle Bluff’s first education bird. She was hatched in the spring on 2000. During her first year, the hawk was hit by a car near Chicago, Illinois. Because the tip of her wing was too damaged, they amputated it, making full flight impossible. The Red-tailed Hawk arrived at Eagle Bluff in March 2001.
The American Kestrel
The American Kestrel is Eagle Bluff’s newest raptor. She arrived from Portland, Oregon in June 2013. During her first year (summer 2012), she was either hit by something or ran into something, injuring her left wing. Because she has never been in programs before, her training is a slow process!
The Barred Owl
Eagle Bluff’s resident Barred Owl was hit by a car in December 2001 near Chicago, Illinois. The impact broke her right wing in several places. She also suffered head trauma, leaving her mostly blind in her left eye. She arrived at Eagle Bluff in January 2003.
The Turkey Vulture
Eagle Bluff’s Turkey Vulture hatched in the spring of 2003. He was found by a person who thought he was abandoned, so they brought the vulture home with them to care for him. Unfortunately, this caused the vulture to imprint on humans meaning he prefers the company of humans more than his own species. He joined our raptor team in August 2011.

THE NORDIC FIDDLERS BLOC is Olav Luksengård Mjelva, Anders Hall and Kevin Henderson who come from Norway, Sweden and the Shetland Islands respectively, which has some of the richest fiddling traditions in the world as well as many well documented historical links going back hundreds of years. They are three of the finest young fiddlers currently working in the folk music scene and are in great demand playing in various musical constellations throughout the world. They have blended three individual styles from these three Nordic regions but still allow their three distinct flavors to come through in a sound that is unique, meaningful, intense and invigorating. The project is the brainchild of Anders Hall who felt that combining the three unique distinctive fiddle styles together would create a special sound. Anders hunch proved to be correct after first exchanging musical thoughts with each other in Voss in May 2009. From the first note that was played they realized this was a collaboration that had to continue such was the feeling of excitement and respect for each other’s playing and traditions.

Between 1990 through 2006, I co-owned
“I Do” Productions Wedding Videography.
As a co-owner, I worked with the couples both pre and post-nuptial, as well as videotaped and edited the weddings. At the height of our successful years, “I Do” actually had three video crews going out on Saturdays. The stories within this book are of the weddings I personally worked with, including videotaped and/or edited.

“I began taking classes in Rosemaling in 1978, through a continuing education class in Decorah IA., where I lived with my family. In 1980, I began teaching the beginning classes and continued to explore the different styles and patterns. Living in Decorah I was able to take advantage of Rosemaling classes at Vesterheim Museum. First 11 years I painted in oils but now use acrylics. As Editor of the Vesterheim Rosemaling Letter for 8 years I was able to meet and study with many Master Rosemalers. In 1987 I was the Editor of Vesterheim “Rosemalers’ Recipes” Cookbook.”
